That's the fate of mythic bad girls not infreqently accidently on purpose as
they say. I should have noted that Lulu (at least in the silent movie) met
her fate at the hands of an all too animate gut ripper by the name of Jack.
Same in the sound version (twelve tone) of Berg I believe though I've never
seen (heard) it. Don't remember at the moment what happened to that other
Melanie (Griffith) whose name was Lulu in "Something Wild." Anyway
irregardless of all that doesn't it seem slightly inconceivable that Pynchon
wouldn't have been able to fit Louise Brooks and Lulu somewhere into his
ourvre. Everyone else has.
