According to Greek journalists reporting from Sweden, all demonstrations during the summit started out peacefully, and things went wild when the police attacked unprovoked. It was then that riots broke out. Swedish police did use real ammo. The man who was shot and critically wounded has been clinically dead at least since Sunday, but this information was withheld by Swedish authorities until after the summit, when most foreign reporters had left the country (the press conference was postponed on purpose). Police brutality was unprecedented, at least in Sweden, a country famous until recently for its adherence to democratic principles. Ah, well. Police is police is police.

"Beneath the efficiency and glee is nostalgia for the old days. The War must've been lean times for crowd control, murder and mopery was the best you could do, one suspect at a time. But now, with the White Market to be protected, here again are whole streets full of bodies eager for that erste Abreitung, and you can bet the heat are happy with it." GR, p.570

All those centuries of "peace-loving" religious systems, and man has yet to learn anything at all... Religion can teach us nothing?
