Also, I appreciate the humor, but I am not agreeing to the 
formula you guys have constructed here. 

This is your formula robert,  not mine---Pynchon writes
about religion, therefor he is a religious writer.

When I provided a definition, a definition the list (Otto)
asked me to provide, of religion as it is present in
Pynchon's books (not Pynchon, the man), you rejected it, but
first you twisted my definition and then you twisted my
sentences reformulating them to your formula.  Otto accepted
it with some qualifications that I agreed to.  

Also, I disagree strongly with most of the links and
excerpts Doug Posted. 
Also, I have posted where and why I agree with Dewey's essay
on M&D. 
Also, while I think Otto and others may enjoy the McClure
essay and so I recommended it, 
obviously I disagree with a lot of it.
