The Atrocity Exhibition

The structure of the Atrocity Exhibition, with its paragraph-size 
subchapters reminds me of the sections of GR which are labelled in a similar 
way.

I assume Pynchon had to have read some Ballard--who else has written such 
literate science fiction, focusing on themes of entropy, ennui, and the 
effects of modern technology in such a surreal way?
