It seems that Jayne was already married.

Married to Paul Mansfield: eloped on January 28, 1950 (Fort Worth, Texas) ;
wed officially on May 10, 1950. Daughter Jayne Marie Mansfield born November
8, 1950 (in Austin, Texas). Divorced Paul Mansfield on January 8, 1958.
Married Mickey Hargitay on January 13, 1958 (in Palos Verde, California).
