Apt or not, I regret using the term.  It seemed an easy shorthand to the 
point I was making, but it's a stupid and effete word.

Meditations on historiography I might agree with; versions of history, no. 

I fear the next stop in this discussion to be the "history is a fiction" 
argument, which can be fun and all but ...
