This is a very good post! Thanks!

Twice since I've lived in this city my wife and I have been run inside our
front door from enjoying an in-broad-daylight game of dominos or just
sunning on our front stoop. Both times we were avoiding being mugged by a
group of young thugs approaching us w/ bandanas pulled up around their
faces. Both times I resolved to get a gun and was advised that an inexpert
like myself should get a shotgun sawed off to the legal limit, maximum
spray. And both times I've later decided against it. I don't want to be
responsible for such deadly force. I't would change me. I'd always be
having to decide if this was the time to pull out the gun.

>you are somebody else, and also the weapon in your hand has changed. you
>are a different subject, because you're holding the gun; the weapon is
>another object because it upkeeps a relationship towards you.
