Indeed.  This has always been one segment of GR I've stumbled over.

As jbor has indicated from the text, the worship is toward "absolute" 
(badass, hee, hee!) power.  That the 175's are at the very bottom makes them 
most (!!!) sensitive to the top power. Thus is expressed in their worship 
and in their communication ritual: spanning the chasm from low to high.   
S&M is a very convenient vehicle for P to translate macro-power 
discrepancies at the most personal of levels.

Question: Is S&M a predominantly hetero or homo phenomenom?
Sub-question:  Does the above distinction hold much water?
