With all due respect, it's not accurate to call Kristallnacht "the real,
obvious and open beginning of the persecution of the Jews in Germany."
Certainly it was a landmark event in the history of German and Nazi
persecution of Jews that clarified the dire situation. But it was part of a
continuum.
