Just Monking around a bit, like straight, no chaser, but, yeah Harry give
them both a beer.
I'm just like the rest of the guys round here, all members of the Jerome
Avenue Fishing Club, Bronx NY.
Of course ain't nobody never goin fishin round here, we mostly just stops by
after werk to talk and solve the problems of the world. I'm the expert on
almost everything, but that don't stop folk from Beee eSSSing their way into
all sorts of dead ends and have another ones till one of the boys says, Yo
Swing, Blinky TRY in TO convince us that kids today got more money than
sense and this is all on account of the fact that they got too much damn
technology in they lives. Well, I says, it's gunna be summer soon and the
kids will be
out in the streets and forgetting all about them Sony Playsations and
gadgets and gidgtits and Janpanese widgits Bfor you know whats what, but it
bein sping and all I decided to get my own two kids to help me plant a small
garden over in Mrs. Toscano's lot next to the handball courts. Now it was my
sincere intent, or maybe I was a bit too bent on having quality time spent
with the weeds of my seeds, but when I ax dem to hep, day just look at me
like I gots two heads and no brain in niether one. Think I was gunna ax em
to chop wood all day. They had excuses and we all know what they say about
excuses and bung holes dark as Calcutta. So I just went and appealed to the
highest court in the Bronx, they Mutta. Cause she tolt them that they gots
to hep. Now don't you know what tall kids in the sun with long faces look
like when your down on your knees putting seeds in the earth. They saying,
why can't we just buy the tomatoes at the store like everybody else? I do
wonder now about Blinky's thinking, like how would kids taken to this fun in
the sun some 200 odd years ago? Maybe if there was no A&P on the corner the
kids would have a different attitude. Maybe if they thought that if they
don't plant they can't eat would make a difference? Or maybe of plating
tomatoes was the easiest maybe even best part of a long and grueling day of
hard labor? Something is gone and something has replaced it. Maybe we
construct what is and what has been, but somethings never change and never
need plating cause they never die, like being young, in flux, like rock and
roll, and
education.
