Their website isn't very interesting, but got some nice animated gifs +
turns your cursor into a guitar.
"All roads lead to Skullbone"
"It's worth the drive."
" (...) the strangest amphitheater in the country."
"(...) open sales of white-supremacist merchandise (...) this stuff has come
more into the open recently (...) There are a lot of Southern whites who
feel like they're being assaulted by politically correct Yankee
imperialism."
"This is the first gig we've played in the States where there aren't any
black people," said Pete Agnew, the bassist in the Scottish hard-rock band
Nazareth, which performed at Skullbone Music Park on a recent Saturday.
"Tennessee's Last Kingdom," a two-year-old book by a local historian, Ernest
R. Pounds, about Skullbone and the surrounding area (known by residents as
the Kingdom of Skullbonia), cites longstanding rumors of racial lynchings in
the Skullbone area many years ago. "This is the reason that for many, many
years no blacks would dare set foot in the kingdom of Skullbonia," Mr.
Pounds writes, adding, "It is still an unwritten rule that blacks are not to
become permanent residents" in the town.
"(...) A nearby bar, the Southfork Bar and Grill, is nicknamed the Cut 'n'
Shoot, because that's what often enough happens to customers there."
>From his tour bus, Eddie Money said after his performance that he was
shocked by some of the fans, particularly one with a picture of a black
man's head tattooed on his arm with a circle around it and a red line
through it. "They may be a little backwards in their attitude," he said.
"You feel like Bobby Kennedy is still the attorney general. But God love
'em. I had a good time."
Sounds like a real nice place to raise your kids up . . .
