Innocent Blood

wild knife slashes in vengeance,
blind blade screaming panic,
thirsty drinker of innocent blood,
justice becomes masked avenger,
eyeless jury in hateful retaliation, 
assuming title of executioner,
flags waving in distraction,
flapping of wings
that carry random destruction, 
rivers run red with children's voices, 
last breath of protective mothers,
an elder's dream,
rivers run red,
burning disappearance 
of innocent blood.
