aide-mémoire: A memorandum setting forth the major points of a
proposed discussion or agreement, used especially in diplomatic
communications. Also called position paper. 2. Something, such as a
mnemonic device, that serves as an aid to memory. [French : aide, aid +
memoire, memory.]

I should look this one up in one of my financial dictionaries too, but
I'm being interrupted by the flow data about our prospective mayors.
I met Bloomberg at a cocktail party. I was just a kid working on the
Texaco bailout. I used Mr. Bloomberg's machine. It became as
indispensable to the bond, MTG, and REO markets as the telephone. It
was a marvel. When I went over to the other side, a trader-traitor, we
had to use slide rules and those little Hewlett Puckered calculators,
the
budget at the FDIC was strained you know. Oh conscience and the taxes of
the public. With only the Bank's insurance premiums and the bailout
blood money of the public, we were like a bunch of Bartelbys scribbling
away, we never had a chance against the Titans with their Bloombergs,
fancy appraisal machinery, and political lobby. Imagine a portfolio of
properties and
debentures, including nearly every savings bank in the state of Texas,
land deals in Arkansas, hotels in Chicago, golf courses in Nevada,
unimproved land in Alaska, toxic dumps, waste lands, planes, plants and
equipment, apartment complexes, more trailor parks than anyone could
possible live in, resorts under construction, leveraged and bought out,
auctioned and condemned, insured and guarenteed by the public's hard
de-unionized labor, stretching from sea to sea. You paid for it. You
lined the pockets of the friends of Bill and Bush. And now they won't
even give you a day off to clean up the postal machines.
