I was pleased to see Leslie Fiedler's warhorse Love and Death in the American 
Novel, still floating along.

His approach to criticism, particularly his deep debt to Freud, is long out 
of date, but, as a work of the imagination, the book is still provocative and 
much fun to read.  And he writes well.

"Come on back to the raft, Huck Honey ..."
