Fair enough. In common with many here, I lurk, skim, and don't do group
reads.

To give my post context, I snipped the bit of Doug's mail in which he
referred to you by name, rather than as "rj/jbor/rjackson/?" or some such
nonsense. I wasn't reposting it as an endorsement - my point was that if
Doug is using your given name, it might be a step away from this
years-long charade of scare-quotes, referring to the gender-unambiguous
David Morris as "she" (a zinger, that one), and so on. Such as it was, it
was against Doug.

If what I quoted was the most outrageous bit, I apologize. Not knowing
what the hell Doug was talking about, I had no way to gauge that. I won't
apologize for malicious intent because there was none, although the above
"defending" was admittedly the wrong choice of words on my part; "not
attacking", at least, I stand by.

Well, since the above was mentioned in public, I wanted to respond in
public.  In the future, though, certainly.
