I'll look for the director's cut at Netflix.

I saw "The Man Who Wan't There" a week ago, and I'm sorry to relate that I 
found it my least favorite Ceon Bros film.  I found myself looking at my 
watch before half-way through.  The problem might partly be that the 
narrator (and title character) is such a low-key persona, pitiful - but 
generally nice, that he begins to bore.  And I did very little thinking 
about the plot afterwards.  This is a sort of reverse murder-mystery, 
because from the start we know who done it, just not his being found-out.

In contrast, the new David Lynch kept me pondering for days.  Unfortunately 
it left the only theater in my area before I was able to return for another 
showing...   I guess I'll have to wait for it on DVD.
