It's pretty clear, isn't it (or, maybe not so clear yet)
that Mason's emerging relationship with Dixon is the
only serious threat to displace the primacy, in his mind,
of Rebekah's memory?
A graveside comparision, in retrospect, would seem to
indicate that Mason's initial fears were correct. He
really did come to love Jere.
