I think Jane read Aristotle. Her novels seem to dovetail into
Nicomachean Ethics.
"The goods of fortune also are thought to contribute towards pride."
BK IV NE
Apt quotes. Congreve resonates.
There is a bumper stick for old men and old women with grown up kids, it
reads,
"We're spending our children's inheritance." Very popular in Florida.
I don't have cars anymore (just my brother's car, saved from the WTC,
and all I do is move it around the city to make way for the sanitation
department), but I nearly fell in love with a GTO in a barn in
Pennsylvania I just happened to walk into on Thanksgiving. If I buy that
Goat, I'm thinking of getting a bumper sticker that reads, "I'm spending
my bride to be's good fortune."
