I'll have to check, but I think Henry Adams, Hans Jonas, Gershom
Scholem, Robert Graves, Albert Pike, Freud, Brown....all have opinions
about this that agree with h Eliade.   Again, I'm in no way suggesting
that Boyarin is wrong on this, but P didn't read Boyarin
as far as we know. He did read the others. It doesn't really matter.
Boyarin is an intertextual/deconstructionist so...
