Of course, if history tells anything about when we will find out about
what the
CIA & Co. are doing on the international front, it won't be soon. But
there are facts available. Things we can read in the papers. What do we
know? Anything? Is Chomsky's view of things fair and accurate? Or has he
selected facts and distorted history again? What deal has been struck
with Iran? With India? With the Russians? With Sudan? With Jordan? With
Germany? With the Afghan factions? What about Turkey? What deal has been
struck with Pakistan? With Saudi Arabia? The list goes on and on. What
about the refugees? What is the USA doing about the refugees? During the
Soviet war 5 million people fled. What about these people? What about
the million or so that died fighting the Russians? What about the
economy? 95% agriculture. Who should pay to re-build Kabul? Should they
re-build it? What about the malaria, cholera, tuberculosis, measles,
and dysentery, the infant mortality rate? The traumitized children,
raped and abused at the hands of the Soviets and the Taliban? What about
the fact that the educated people have left or been murdered? Education
is nearly non-existant. What about the Stans? What deal has been
struck with them? What about the weapons? The Nukes? What about the sale
of arms? What about China's role in all this? There is uranium and
petroleum in Afghanistan, what about it? What about the linguistic and
ethnic factions inside and the support for these outside? What about all
these factors?
Complicated world. Plenty of pain and plenty blame to go around.
I'm not sure we should be pointing fingers at the Bush administration
just yet.
I'm sure they will make their share of mistakes, but thus far, what have
they done that makes them more guilty that all the rest?
