Dear Otto,
Great post. Your take on politician's denying things is all too often exactly
the situation. Who among them is not the opportunist? When the NPR
commentator said that after 9-11 that Congress was in a rush to pass laws
which the American people would feel (not believe, mind you) helped the
situation, I cynically told my beautiful wife, "So, that's news? Isn't that
what they always do?" At least I can say that without fear of the organs of
state security a/k/a Office of Homeland Security Why does that sound
so...well, apartheid era South African? At least, for now.
Bonus bulletin-for all those who think we males don't examine our thought
processes critically:
The
LAT goes inside to report on another post-911 upswing,
especially among Manhattanites: "terror sex." The story
quotes one man who exemplifies the trend: "'What's sick is
that on the day that it happened, I watched the towers
crumble, and then I'm walking north, really freaked out, but
I was noticing more women than I ever do,' said an unmarried
Manhattan record executive in his 30s who contacted several
women he was dating casually, all of whom he has had sex with
since the attacks. 'Usually there are girls where you say
she's not my type. Everything was my type all of a sudden.'"
TTFN,
