So, it's OK for U.S. politicians to spew political propaganda (ramping up
for war, ramming legislation through Congress, etc.) while the survivors
are still being pulled from the rubble, but it's not OK for U.S. citizens
to respond and discuss it? Funny kind of democracy that would be. Thank
goodness we still have the Bill of Rights.

At any rate, I am in good company in pointing to the dark side of the
history of U.S. involvement in world affairs in the past century or so,
given that precisely that is a favorite activity of the author who is
sometimes the focus of this forum, and many others in the U.S. People all
across the U.S. are listening closely to what the government is saying and
encouraging the Bush Administration to pursue the perpetrators of these
crimes and bring them to justice, not pursue a war that will kill more
innocent people. People are also questioning the coalition that the Bush
Administration is putting together, too -- see the William Safire column
for an analysis by a right-wing pundit that notes the contradiction of
ignoring the terrorism of coalition partners in exchange for helping to get
Bin Laden and the Taliban.
