I suppose one could shoe-horn Slothrop into this definition if one felt 
compelled, but, given one descriptor, "sinister" would be a word unlikely to 
jump early to mind for most readers.  

Slothrop is most often a likable schlemiel and the object of others' sinister 
intents.

Besides, Michiko Kikutani is humorless, tedious and unpleasant.
