But what have you done for me lately?

Barbara,
Terrance forgets a period of time a couple of years ago when just about all
of the folks who now seem to be his P-list buddies were attacking him
relentlessly because he was posting long, tangled, sometimes
difficult-to-fathom emails to the list under multiple names -- one person,
still on the P-list and usually with drool hanging out of his/mouth, even
accused Terrance and me of being the same person. Terrance and I knew that
wasn't true at the time because he and I had exchanged offlist email and
snail mail and had even spoken on the telephone once. That's back when all
of Terrance's current buddies were calling him names on the P-list and
giving him a hard time in general -- you could look it up in the archives
if you wanted to spend the time. Terrance also seems to have forgotten who
spoke up in his defense back then. Some people will do just about anything
to be a part of a pack, I guess; once accepted, I figure it's selective
memory kicking in that makes it easy to forget what went before, but of
course I'm no psychologist.
But if venting on the P-list keeps Terrance from kicking the cat, or worse,
then I'm glad he's got this outlet, bless his soul. I don't understand at
least half of what he writes, either, and it's annoying when he asks for
facts then ignores them when they're provided and fails to provide any to
support his own claims, but I know he loves Pynchon, I admire his spirit,
and every once in awhile he lets a gem slip through the gibberish.
