A stylistically if not necessarily politically
conservative choice, Naipaul (who, however, I know
only from A Bend in the River), perhaps? I was kind
of thinking that, given the portentous first year of a
new century, millenium, what have you, Pynchon'd win
it as a figure who will loom over twenty-first century
Lit'rachure, as he has among Certain Circles for the
past few decades. As, of course, will postcolonial
Literature, so ...
