a long history of impersonation

"BTW, how much Pynchon text have you commented on lately?"

Morris ---

Like others, I've been down this road before with you. It's a futile gesture, but let me respond:

I comment on Pynchon text when I feel I have something substantive to say. If you're such an archivist, look back to the recent CoL49 read where I made my contribution to the community discussion. It may not sparkle with the brilliance of some people on this list, but it's my contribution.

But your comment suggests that *volume* is what matters here. Only one who has contributed in recent weeks and provided a copious amount of postings has "bragging rights," you seem to say. Well . . . if you're looking for someone who posts tons of stuff, related in varying degrees to TRP, why shouldn't Millison have bragging rights? Or maybe you mean a copious amount of meaningful and insightful literary analysis on our author. <laugh> Surely, that's NOT you.

But, of course, you don't see it that way. At the risk of launching yet another flame war here, you, David Morris of New Orleans, lack respect for this forum. While others submit their insights and questions and links and NP-related stuff in the hopes that it will generate more insights and questions and links, your sole contribution to this list is to insult, assault, and essentially say: "Why don't you say something meaningful, fucker?!" when someone replies to the insults. I'm just as guilty as many of us of posting nonsense and insult in the past, but most people grow out of it, or exercise a polite restraint, or take matters offlist. Not you, Morris.

A typical exchange with you begins when someone posts something to the list in innocence (say, an interpretation). You reply with something akin to: "What the fuck planet are you from, bub?" No reasoned response, no polite restraint, nothing with substantive evidence. Just obscenity and insult.

When that person responds (admittedly, in shock!) to this, you begin the goading process, accusing the person of not submitting meaningful discussion to this forum. Yet, never ONCE did any of your posts provide one meaningful, text-based insight.

This, Morris, is what you do continually on the list (a few others, too, but you're the most predictably unmeaningful in your posts). I'm sure your reply to all this will either be (a) use the delete key if you don't like what I say, fucker, or (b) you can leave this list if you don't like it, fucker. Which, of course, is par for you.

I'm not expecting a meaningful exchange of ideas with you on this, Morris. I've learned not to expect so much.
