Remember these guys?

Botha , Louis. 1862-1919. South African general in the Boer War
(1899-1902) and first prime minister of the Union of South Africa
(1910-1919).

Botha, Pieter Willem. Born 1916. South African prime minister
(1978-1989) who defended and upheld apartheid despite international
protest.

arm-chair, adj, Remote from active involvement: armchair warriors in
the Pentagon; an armchair traveler.

Yes we use this adjective for the American football "know-it-all" who
sits to watch the game and gives advice to the quarterback (the most
important player) or the coach (manager) even though he is sitting in
his living room watching the game on the tube and so they can't hear
him.

An arm-chair quarterback or coach or general does know a lot about his
subject--a bottomless archive. And an armchair can keep a room full of
listeners amused. Younger people love to sit and listen to an older
armchair tell stories about the old days, the great matches he
attended, the battles and so on.

Germany tied Sweden?
England tied Greece
Mexico tied Costa Rica (I'm rooting for Costa Rica, my cinderella)

So, I'm calling this match. Injury time, extended time, the end.
Yup, I'm the man with the stripes and the whistle so I can speak for all
of us.
The whole damned list.
We are heading to the showers.
I'm heading for the armed car...across this mote now...don't want my ear
bit off...where is Pele when I need him...

Oh, for you guys (americans, probably) who have no idea what the heck
I'm talking about again, think McMurphey in One Flew Over The Coo-Coo's
Nest and the World Series.

The ne next words you here from me will be

"Juicy Fruit"
