While I grieve the loss of serious literary discussion on the Pynchon
List, I certainly am grateful for the laughs I am getting from some of
the articles posted from various people trying to support their positions
on current events.

Anyone who has kept up with political discussion over the last decade
knows that neither David Horowitz nor Christopher Hitchens has ZERO
credibility on any subject except his own celebrity.  The only reason
these phonies continue to publish is because whatever view they are
espousing at the moment happens to agree with the money man who owns the
organ that publishes it.

As shocking as it may seem to some of the wild eyed innocents on this
list, there is only one truth to all the events that followed 9/11: The
Bush administration acted politically to take advantage of a grieving
nation and continue to exploit the situation daily for political
advantage.  This is a disgusting truth that is so evident it does not
even have to be researched.  

The events of 9/11 were perpetrated by deranged antisocial criminals.  We
have always had deranged anti social criminals in our midst (Timothy
McVeigh for one) but we have never before opted for closing our open
society to deal with the problem.  Turning the country over to
psychopathic security-obsessed people will go down as one of the worst
political decisions our country ever made.  To think that Pynchon would
ever agree with all of the Bush supporters on this list is truly
laughable.
