Yes.

I'd like to make a collateral point concerning this thread. Though Hitchens
may style himself a man of the left I associate him mainly with the right
wing conspiracy to extract Clinton from the Presidency before his elected
term was up. To the outside world this may have seemed a trivial issue but
it was important to many Americans myself included. My only point therefore
would be (admittedly Americocentric) that regardless of how one feels about
whether or not the left's "reponses" (as a bloc) have been "disgraceful" any
argument intended to persuade Americans that they HAVE BEEN  disgraceful
might have been better advised to leave out the Hitchen's input.

(I realize Americans may not have been the target  audience of the article
quoted but wanted to state the point anyway)
