<<I'm surprised you're bucking Terrance's insistence that we only talk about
Pynchon's texts in this forum.>>

Terrance has nothing to do with me.

<<Polls can "prove" whatever pollsters want them to prove, surely you're
sophisticated enough to know that about political PR.<

True enough, however my point was only secondarily about the 94% (or whatever
you deem more accurate) who are in favor of the war; my point was primarily
about your rhetoric ("sickening and disgraceful cheerleading") as you well
know.

< I've posted many excerpts and articles that document the fact that
corporate pigs are feeding at the trough at this very moment. >>

This doesn't address my point either, which is that "feeding at the trough,"
as you so colorfully put it, will occur with mobilization toward war. It
says nothing about the war being "primarily" waged to satisfy corporate
interests.

<<I'm confident that the corporate interests that control Bush and Congress
will put pressure on them to stop the war.>>

What you're confident in is not of interest here.

<<Can you show specific evidence of compliance?"

Evidence: Yes, the agreement by major U.S. television broadcasters to submit
to the Bush Administration demand re broadcasting of statements from bin
Laden and co. (see below)>>

This is false. There were no demands made.

<<Every day, for example, the Times contains stories that only serve to
regurgitate government propaganda ... >>

I've asked for cites.

<< You can indeed trace a line of direct political and ideological descent
from the folks who planned and executed the Vietnam War to the people who are
planning and executing the current war. >>

Again, dodging the point, which is what you claim to know about what Pynchon
felt about Vietnam, that he wrote GR in angry response, that he would
certainly feel the way you do about Afghanistan, etc.

You've answered little, despite your tagline.
