(77.2) Sensorium: (from late Latin sensorium, from the verb sentire --
to feel). The seat of sensation in the brain of man and other animals.
The percipient centre to which sense-impressions are transmitted by the
nerves. Also common sensorium (sensorium commune).
Formerly also used in a wider sense, for the brain as the organ of mind
and the centre of nervous energy.

(77.6) Pelog: music from Java (kind of those noisy gamelan)

(77.18) Tuan: like in 'massa'

(77.21) Pumplenose: Dutch for grapefruit = 'pompelmoes'.  Slightly
changed by the Javans, who according to the ingredients they cook and/or
sell seem to have a monopoly (non-V.OC.-approved) of the food

(78.16) Voorhuis: Room or rooms in a house at the street's side.
Between Voorhuis and street is the 'Stoep' (80.2), a veranda.
Literally, it means, 'house in front'

(79.23) cognoscenti: if this is latin, it ought to be cognoscentes,
unless the word cognoscentus exists --which I doubt.  Maybe Italian?
Meaning: he (or they) that know

(80.24) Younkers: Dutch 'jonker', same prononciation, which has two
meanings: a (low) rank in Low Country nobility and, more generally,
'male younger people'.  From 'jong' and 'heer' (the same 'Heer' as in
Heren XVII.

(82.1) a-jangle: ?

(82.24) Bilimbi: Asian fruit

(82.25) Bobotie: meat mixed with hot spices

(82.26) Frikadel: meatloaf; to be fried.

Words like ketjab, Torpedick etc. will be treated more extensively
later.
