MDMD(6): Three Reverends?

(1) There's the reverend telling a tale to kids. It is not surprising
he sometimes takes the moral side. This happens on page 80, where he
describes the acts of Dutch girls as: "irresistibly perverse", which he
illustrates by the Deeds of these by going into "ev'ry detail", which is
a kind of ambiguous pleasure, both for teller and for told.
(2) There's the reverend who's always cheerful and in a good mood when
he's a real character in the story he's telling; see the Mango
Conversation, followed by a sheepish Account.
(3) But his annotations in his note-book tend to be a bit melancholick,
as the end of the chapter proves, and are mere proof of his love for
mankind.
I like 'em all.
