Big Bird:
"Can't you see
how condescending and irritating that is?"
You mean your smarmy remarks? Yes, I do see how how condescending and
irritating they are.
I couldn't care less if you agree with my views on the war against
Afghanistan, or if you don't like reading what I post to Pynchon-L; just
DELETE it if you don't like it. When I stop hearing from people about how
they enjoy seeing a counterbalance to the voices of hate and war-mongering
that have come to the fore on Pynchon-L since September 11, maybe I'll stop
posting. Maybe not. You'll notice, I hope, that nobody is stopping you
from posting your views to Pynchon-L, either. Somehow, no matter how hard
I pray at night, they keep showing up in my email box.
I couldn't care less about what you think about my interpretations of
Pynchon, either. For starters, you're wrong, you're shadow boxing with
your own straw man arguments.
Big Bird:
"The Pynchon *I* read "
Is very similar to mine, of course. If you read any of what I wrote during
MDMD and VLVL, you would know that. If it makes you feel better to reduce
and caricature what I've written to Pynchon-L over the past 5 years, so be
it -- but don't kid yourself, you're doing precisely the thing that you
accuse me of doing. That's what happens when you get self-righteous and up
on your soap box. You are a pompous ass, with the nerve to call me
condescending. Get a grip.
