Okay. I just don't want to look like a hugely ignorant dork.
Not sure quite how to put this. I'll try some equations:
Floundering Four is roughly equal to the Fantastic Four (1960's era Marvel comic book by Stan Lee
and Jack Kirby (http://www.toonopedia.com/fant4.htm)).
The leader for the fantastic Four is Reed Richards (also known as Mr Fantastic
(http://www.toonopedia.com/mr_fant.htm)) and the leader of the Floundering Four is our man Slothrop.
Richards seems to be modelled on Plastic Man (1940's vintage comics character
(http://www.toonopedia.com/plas.htm).
Slothrop is a fan of Plas (p206-207).
So then. Some stuff. And now...questions!
What does it mean that the Fantastic four are a '60s vintage comic?
Who do the characters of the Floundering Four represent? (guesses: mytrle miraculous=katje;
maximillion=blodget waxwing; marcel=no idea at all sorry).
How does the character of Plas relate to Slothrop?
In the sequence (beginning p674) are the comic book characterisations of the actors (and their
audience) symbolic of anything in particular?
Should I just give up now and go a read a stop sign over and over again until I'm *sure* I
understand every nuance of it's possible meaning and significance?
