I don't think you are. And, if you allow me to sound a bit absolute, let's remember that no work of art is ever intended for everybody. Each has a "target audience". Most people who didn't like "Lost Highway" just aren't into this kind of cinema, and they obviously aren't part of that particular "target audience", and of course there's nothing wrong with that. They didn't like it, we did. So, talking about a work of art is more like talking about ourselves, isn't it? Interacting with another fellow person and exchanging views, i.e. exposing ourselves to one another. Which I find very interesting...
And Lynch's films are very different from one another, which is also very interesting, imo. Just compare "Wild at Heart" to "Eraserhead" for example.
