If it was that simple it would be pretty nice but for me it isn't a question
of Weltanschauung (because I have none) but of literary interpretation, of
poetology. The main difference between Doug and me (concerning P.) is that I
think that P.'s genre is postmodernist literature and Doug dislikes/rejects
the postmodern discourse in general.
The idea of a believing postmodernist is for me like a Catholic priest with
tits and suspender. One side necessarily is betrayed, the art or the belief.
I always had the suspicion that only atheists can understand the holy books
in their full cultural context.

Why do I always have to think of Buck Mulligan in his yellow sleeping-suit
and his mock service. Your fault, Terrance. I promise to read Moby Dick in
English as soon as possible because I don't get Gregory Peck out of my mind
as well.
