This is incorrect. God is not responsible for original sin in Gnostic
Religion.
We see in M&D, that the characters appear to be in prisons, often
circular, this is the condition of Gnostic man. And in Pynchon's novels,
the Gnostic drive to the light, to the all, to the chamber, to the West,
to a way out of the Gnostic Prison, is the cause of great suffering and
pain, but it is a condition that in Pynchon's novels can't be escaped,
it can only be subverted by paradoxical agons, music, murphy's law, the
spinning of yarns....love, limericks, magic, children's games,
brotherhood, marriage...
we are the impotent sheep, the archons are criminally insane. we may
forget or mix a broken remembrance with the desire to tell moral tales
or write fictions, funny ones are best, but any attempt to escape, to
seek the light, will only lead to Death and the destruction of our
scatter brained mother.
The father, god, is a transcendent, he is hidden from all creatures and
is unknowable by natural concepts. Knowledge of him requires
supernatural revelation and illumination.
It requires the grail, the logos, the Word, the blood of christ, but in
P's fiction, these are all just plastic imitations, the grail of the
archons who rule the gnostic cosmos.
Cherrycoke says, we can't see god (this is not Gnostic, but its
opposite), god is not the gnostic god, he is sensible to us and we know
where we are in relation to Him, far or near, in his light or in the
darkness of our own shadow (this a direct opposite of the gnostic
light/darkness). And we feel, as a living planet, his gravity, his love.
This is anti-gnostic. Just like GR.
