In the Gnostic system. And in Pynchon's Gnostic worlds.  

But this is not to be confused with grace (as in Dixon/Fox) or with the
Eastern religious experiences Wicks longs for or Christ or the
love/Gravity of his unpublished sermon.

His Gnostic god is exactly that.
