You're wrong. My point was that Pynchon in the _SL_ 'Intro' refers
specifically to the "success of the 'new left' later in the 60s" (p. 7). He
then says that this "success" was "to be limited by the failure of college
kids and blue collar workers to get together politically". He certainly
depicts the ineffectuality of the intellectual "left" in _Vineland_, and I
think it's safe to assume his sympathies are more with the "blue collar
workers" than the ideologues. And, as we've established, I think, the
"success" he's referring to "later in the 60s" isn't related to ending the
Vietnam War either. I suggested it was in the Civil Rights arena.

Another simple question, Doug: How many different email accounts have you
opened to post to the list from? 4 or 5? More than 10?!
