No, we did not deserve it. Those dead people in New York did not deserve it.
I don't think anyone (on this list at any rate) is saying that the USA
deserved what happened. The US government, however, does bear a certain
amount of responsibility for what happened. What we need now are for some
cooler heads to prevail, lest we become what our despised enemies are.
Instead of knocking the few voices raised in behalf of peace & reason, we
should educate ourselves & find out exactly why the European world is so
hated that the planning, organization, resources & research that went into
the manifestation of this horrible crime was carried out. Make no mistake.
The cities of Europe are just as vulnerable & just as likely to be hit. I
wept for those who died, & I also wept when I sensed the grim satisfaction
that the US administration is undoubtedly feeling at the blank check they now
have to carry out acts that will provoke more of this. When you smack a bee
hive with a stick, you should expect to be stung.
