Fw:WRL on Attacks

All I'm saying is that due process DOES NOT begin once the enemy has been
defeated. There are rules to follow. Have been ever since the end of World
War Two (earlier, actually). States do not have carte blanche to carry on a
war in any old way. And as for how I think YOU should legally conduct YOUR
war, all I can say is that I don't think you are at war, your nation or you
personally. I think you're taking the rhetoric of your dumb-ass leaders way
too seriously. Wars usually have a clear enemy (a state preferably), a
sustained series of engagements, and a negotiated ending of some sort. I
don't think this war will have a negotiated ending, nor will there be a
series of engagements beyond the can of whoop ass unloaded on Afghanistan
from America's sparkling fleet of air-craft carriers. A scapegoat of some
kind will be found--I'm guessing Afghanistan, but maybe Bush will finish
what Clinton started and destroy that pharmaceutical factory in Sudan once
and for all--and then, after lobbing 10 or 20 (or 300!) cruise missiles
their way, destroying an already impoverished nation in the process, it'll
end in a courtroom (if we're lucky) where--lo and behold--due process will
rear its ugly head again. But maybe not. What the hell do I know.
