You're right, Vollmann doesn't have an article in Harper's about
Afghanistan. It must be the New Yorker article I was thinking of. Sorry
about that. I was given the wrong information.

Well, I pulled down all my old Harper's and I don't the Vollman Article. I
did find an article though in Mother Jones - Sept/Oct 2000. The Phantom
Menace. "Could terrorists attack the United States with weapons of mass
destruction? Highly unlikely, say defense experts. So why is the Clinton
Administration spending billions to foil a most improbable beast?"
I will have to read that (and report if worthwhile).
I was going to pull down a stack of New Yorkers and look.... but Jasper was
kind enough to provide it for us.
