Propaganda:  The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of
information reflecting the views and interests of those people
advocating such a doctrine or cause. 2. Material disseminated by the
advocates of a doctrine or cause: the selected truths, exaggerations,
and lies of wartime propaganda. 3. Propaganda. Roman Catholic Church. A
division of the Roman Curia that has authority in the matter of
preaching the gospel, of establishing the Church in non-Christian
countries, and of administering Church missions in territories where
there is no properly organized hierarchy. (AHD) 
 

The problem of eliciting meaning from texts and
propaganda analysis both in Nazi-dominated media and the
U.S.A.  dominated media is a significant concern of TRP's work.

Treatise of the Three Impostors was published anonymously. 

The men hated organized religion, did not believe in god, and thought
that Jesus, Moses, and Mohammed were the greatest impostors of all time.
The argued that people should abandon their belief in the devil, heaven,
hell, even sin, in favor of a natural religion. Circulating such ideas
was quite dangerous, had these men been caught, they would have been in
big trouble with the authorities, both religious and secular.
