And she says, "A Jesuit, a Chinaman, and a hot-headed Corsican?"

No?

Would you believe, since they are on the way to Bath, that she is the
famous wife of that city, and she says, "your blessed instruments!"?

No?

Um, and she says, "same thing as the the people and the sailors."

Well, I do seem to recall that Jesuits, Chinaman, and Corsicans will be
showing up again, so maybe we will find out.

As regards the red coat, quite right, the red coat doesn't seem to be
attracting the sailors, although I hope he's not going to wear that coat
in America, but maybe his talking like and English lady would attract a
few, but then again, I suppose Mason is just paranoid and Dixon is just
too Kool for him just now. Trying to fit in, yes. These two are punch
lines after punch lines so maybe we don't need a joke that has been
though up and thought out by Dixon.

On another topic.

Prejudice is not related to widely shared
stereotypes, but prejudice may influence the meaning of the stereotypic
characteristic.
For example, are people of Scottish descent thrifty or are they stingy?

Again, it's a risky business, turning the tables on the reader, but I
think P is playing with those stereotypes here again.
