Howdy

I would propose that Pynchon is simply being the weentsiest bit
careless.  Norfolk is one of the navy cities on the Hampton Roads port
in Virgina.  Maybe "Norfolk" (instead of Norwich) just sounds right to
an old navy hand like our man P. Even the Norwich Terrier is a modern
breed. (I can't remember: what character in Pynchon would go to
"extravagant lengths to preserve the racial purity of her Weimaraners"?
