"Inciting racial hatred" comes close. If true, it was indeed a deplorable
act. The way that certain elements within the "independent" media exploited
the tragedy of the WTC attack, within a day in some cases, for the purposes
of Bush-bashing and other mean propagandising, has been disgusting and
offensive.

It is heartening to see that Western leaders, including Bush, have not been
guided in their response to the attack by the weight of emotion and calls
for immediate retribution against the Arab world which were coming from vast
majorities of the public (and certain sections of the media) within Western
nations in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, and that world leaders
across the board are now putting past hostilities and religious differences
to one side in order to exert diplomatic pressure on the Taliban to present
Bin Laden for trial. What is emerging at present is a concerted *global*
effort against violence and terrorism: one which might yet prove to be a
Very Good Thing.
