Martyrdom

I just asked an Irakian asylum seeker who gives me lessons in Arabic (and I 
give him lessons in German), what the Arabic word for "martyr" is: in Latin 
letters and in English pronounciation, "shaheed". It means "suffering and 
fighting (engaging) for one's belief". For the suicide killers they have 
another expression, "intihary", which means "fanatic extremist", or 
"political extremist". So he explained it to me. No guarantee for the 
correctness.
