mddm (ch. 28): gershom & washington

  people here have associated gershom with sammy davis jr., both afro-americans 
  of jewish faith. just recently i heard about that episode when sammy embraced 
  sick dick in miami in 1972 ... "http://www.interlog.com/~wad/sambio.html" ... 
  could this little scene have been spooking around in pynchon's mind when he 
  first modelled the character of gershom? kai
