Just back from vacation. We stopped in Williamsburg VA and heard a
curious story from a docent (which I for one will not bother checking)
that highlights the English anti-Catholic sentiment of the early 18th
Cent. Our decent docent reported that during a grand public celebration
of Queen Anne's birthday the aristo's bespoke them a dandy
wicker-man-style effigy of the Pope filled with cats and set it on fire
so everyone could hear the Pope scream.

I'm betting that this story isn't true, 'cause if it were I'm feel sure
P would have squeezed it in somewhere.
