Who???

Enzian is one of Pynchon's *MOST* "fleshed out" characters, second only to 
Slothrup.  Enzian is Slothrup's soul-brother.  Slothrup is Pynchon's MOST 
"fleshed out" character, only because he is the most extendedly central.  
Enzian is also MOST central because he is the rebel-disciple of The Beast, 
the child-eating mother/father.

Gershom is wonderful, but Enzian is sublime.
